"I am the Officer responsible for the training of the Dogs in Northamptonshire Police. My role includes the sourcing of puppies suitable to be General Purpose Police Dogs.

In Autumn of 2005, I was contacted by Mr Joe Blake. He explained to me his plans to produce German Shepherds Dogs from Eastern Europe particularly from the Pohranci Straze Lines. It was apparent that he was prepared go to extraordinary lengths to produce high class working dogs. I placed an order for one puppy.

The litter was born 23/12/05 and we received our puppy in the following February. The dog was placed into our puppy scheme and training commenced immediately with the operative conditioning. The dog was receptive to this method and quick to respond. At eight months he was taken from the puppy walkers and I took the dog on when his training became more focused towards the Police Dog role.It was clear that the dog had very high potential. Originally the dog was programmed for an Initial Course September 07, such was his progress this was revised and he was put onto a course with a handler at 10 months of age. I am not a supporter of General Purpose Dogs being trained at such a young age but this was an exception.

I have been a Dog Handler for 16 years. I believe this dog has the best all round attributes that I have seen before. He is a large powerful animal that has high drive and his want for work is exceptional. His tracking, searching and criminal work are first class. He remains controllable and even for a dog of this age he shows great courage and is protective of his female handler. He licensed for operational duties at 12 months, with his handler he has experienced operational successes which is a credit to him and the handler during such early days. I have now been supplied with two adult dogs from the same litter, although at an early stage of training again show fantastic promise. I have placed further orders for puppies with Mr Blake, if he can produce stock of this quality consistently, then he will have achieved the objective of producing high class Dogs for Police work.
